Top Networking Questions #12

How do I get the best from 121 meetings?

Are your 121 meetings a valuable activity to building relationships or just an excuse for having coffee together?  In this short video Dave Clarke of NRG shows you how to get the most out of a 121 meeting:

The key to getting the best out of 121 meetings is to agree what you are looking to achieve from of the meeting, the duration of the meeting, and what the next steps will be up front.

At the start of the meeting agree

    • We are there to develop a relationship through Networking
    • There is a possibility you can introduce me and my services and add value to others in your network, and similarly there are people in my network that you can help with problems they have
    • We are going to talk about you and your business for a few minutes then I get the opportunity to do the same.
    • If there is a fit, whether we want to pursue this conversation; maybe make one or two test introductions to each other to see how we get with others in our networks.

Most importantly we agree what the next steps will be.

    Key Learning Points:

At start of 121 meeting agree:

    • How long the meeting will take
    • Objectives of the meeting (develop relationship, mutual introductions)
    • We each talk about ourselves and our business
    • If a fit whether we want to pursue this relationship
    • Next steps.
