How to be successful when networking in a group

Business Networking Group

The first few of these sessions looked at networking in general.

For a small business with limited resources networking groups can help you achieve your objectives faster & more efficiently, as the last session highlighted.

In some recent research with NRG-networks members we identified that about 80% were achieving a substantial part of their new business target once they had been in the group for around a year. Some were quicker and some slower. Business ranged from hundreds of £s to tens of thousands of £s per month.

To help you get results more quickly, we have identified eight things that successful networkers do. If you put these things into practice, you too can begin to get better results.

The things that effective networkers have in common are:

  • They have a strategy for their networking;
  • They always take time to listen, and to find a point of connection with someone new;
  • They attend their own group regularly, visit other groups & belong to other networking groups as well;
  • They are very clear about the types of customers they help;
  • They are very clear about what they do for them, and the problems they fix;
  • They always follow up;
  • They spend a lot of time in 121 meetings with their network;
  • They regularly advocate and introduce others.

It looks a lot like they have a plan & follow a system, so if you plan and follow a system you can ensure that your networking activity produces predictable, reliable and profitable results.

In further sessions we show NRG Members how to profit from their business networking through the  The NRG Advocacy Model.
